LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY

An excellent administrator will collaboratively facilitate the development and implementation of programs and opportunities that benefit all children.

I believe some of the most important characteristics of an excellent administrator are the ability to clearly communicate, actively listen, develop relationships, and work with all stakeholders to promote the vision and mission of a school district.

Equally important is knowledge of the needs of students, knowledge of current educational policies and standards, and knowledge of research-based practices that promote positive outcomes. A clear sense of purpose that is grounded in research, guided by legislation, and driven by doing what’s best for students is central to success in order to provide a learning environment that is safe, secure, and promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of every student.

My goal for obtaining a degree in educational administration is to become part of a team to help improve schools and make a difference in students’ lives. Providing instructional leadership and working in an environment that strives to continually improve student learning and achievement is exciting to me. With a Ph.D. in special education and a master’s degree in gifted education, I read regularly to stay current on educational issues and I recognize the myriad challenges schools face with improving instruction and raising student achievement. I am committed to helping students maximize their potential while providing an educational experience that meets unique and individual needs. Regardless of a student’s background, ethnicity, or exceptionality – I am passionate about providing appropriate and challenging academic curriculum while meeting specific student needs. I hold high expectations for student success and across my years of teaching have regularly demonstrated that all students can attain mastery of essential academic content. As a former classroom teacher, I was able to directly affect only the students in my classroom but as a future administrator, I will be able to support and positively affect teachers, students, and staff within my school.

I plan on using my educational administration graduate training along with my research and teaching experience to promote positive change within a school district. I look forward to creatively collaborating and participating in strategic planning for setting attainable school goals in order to improve learning for all students. As an educator, I believe it is important that school leaders connect with teachers, families, and community in order to promote a shared vision and mission in order to realistically implement change in a school. As a future administrator, I look forward to assuming a leadership role and collaboratively furthering a school’s vision and mission to do what’s best for children.
